Who is Kenyatta?

Kenyatta Muzzanni Robles (she/they) is an artist, organizer, and macro social worker who lives at the intersection of arts and social movements. This duality comes naturally to Kenyatta having grown up in the Brownsville neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY.

Their writing has appeared in Convergence Magazine, Aislin Magazine, the Hartford Courant, and elsewhere. In 2025, Kenyatta wrote, directed, and produced their first short film, BE HERE NOW. The film centers on an unemployed writer and activist with a fear of clowns, who is greeted by a clown version of herself in her bedroom. BE HERE NOW grapples with existence, resistance, and what it means to be human.

With a background in theater, Kenyatta has performed original and collaborative pieces for The Grass is Greener, A Little Bit of Death VII, and La Sala Femme: The ReEmergence.

Kenyatta is also the Founder & Director of Action Arc Labs, a social social change organization that combines community organizing and storytelling to build power, shift paradigms, and disrupt the status quo. This role allows them to combine their artistry along with their decades of experience in social movements, suicide prevention, and the criminal justice reform field.

An avid rugby player in undergraduate and graduate school, Kenyatta made it off the pitch and across the stage to get a Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Juniata College, and a Masters of Social Work with a Policy Practice focus from the University of Connecticut School of Social Work.

In the end, Kenyatta’s purpose in life is to build power with oppressed people to ensure our collective freedom. They are a builder and a destroyer.
